FBCfabric & Reindeer - It's Not Who You Know, It's Whom You Know - CD (2005)

Review by: Chris Bress

Following on from the great 10″ single comes this great full-length.

After a slick ambient intro is the main cut off the single and it stil sounds ace. The productions thick, but not 100% polished. The beats still sound a little obvious and high in the mix, but it sounds good that way. Kind of like DIY hip-hop. There are some really good ambient touched on this cd too where it veers off into early Boom Bip territory. When the guitar comes in on passenger it just sounds straight up fucking great.

This is way better than any of the Anticon shit I’ve heard, but I suppose its along similar lines – it’s just not annoying at all. Theres no stupid vocal lines and it just sounds like gritty hip-hop without the cheese. If anything it’s a bit like Tes, but with a softer more electronic edge and the songs are all a lot shorter.

Highly recommended!
