PtPS is really really good! They should do an album and send me a copy, because I would like to hear it. This is the second release of theirs that I have heard, and both have been equally impressive. On this split they groove out a pair of female fronted emo efforts, with “A Simple Leaf” reminding me of the likes of Turn around Norman and Crash and Britany. Things are very melodic with occasional bursts of more craziness. The first song has a lovely jangly breakdown straight out of midwestmo, before it lurches out of that to catch you off guard. “I’m not dancing because I like this band, I’m dancing because I am cold” follows with a fairly familiar emo structure, comparable to Yage for example. Grooving guitars, desperate vocals, and lots of scruffy melody.

Radio Burroughs are a new band to me, and they also have female vocals. Its very roughly recorded, I think it would probably be just about acceptable for a demo. Their stuff is hurtling along a little like Four Hundred Years. The vocals are better when sung than when spoken/shouted. Track two is much improved, with a lovely spoken breakdown similar to Native Nod perhaps. Overall, these guys are solid with some impressive ideas but maybe they are not quite ready yet, I am sure they’ll get better with time.
