Barakus - s/t - CD (2006)

Labels: old dudes
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Saints alive. Here’s another case of a PR company scooping up the name of every website on the web, pinging out a CD to them and hoping a few stick. Barakus is 4 old dudes (go look at their website) playing snarly vocalled, radio rock. Suddenly it went all sort of experimental with crazy layers like a My Bloody Valentine record but I realised that I had their website open in the background at the same time as listening to the CD and it was streaming clips of their songs. To be honest, I think this is the only way to listen to Barakus, and that they should consider trying this themselves and releasing an album using this method. Because I quite enjoyed them when they were a wall of guitars and two different singers doing different things. But individually, the songs are really really, well, bad.

This band messed up, now I gotta mess them up. It’s the law!
