This album seems to be a collection of older tracks along with some newer stuff, presumingly providing a good point to start with this Ukranian composer.
The order of the day here is neo-classical, all strings and pianos and electronics which flow in and out of each other. If you enjoy stuff like Clogs, Johann Johannsson, Richter et al there’s something for you here although he never quite reaches those heights. It’s a bit difficult to put my finger on why as this is, on the surface, a good album. I think perhaps it’s a lack of the dynamics that keep you going back to those albums by the greats in this genre. Whilst I enjoyed listening to this the few times I did, I think if I was in the mood i’d reach for my Blue Notebooks or Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto LPs before this.
Saying that this guy is quite young and i’ll definitely keep an eye on him in the future as this seems like someone that’s got his best stuff ahead of him.
