Two bands play a song each of heartfelt, emotional, melodic punk rock for people who like to use the term ‘gruff punk’.
If it was a contest between the two bands (which it’s not – I mean we’re all friends right?), then Credentials would just shave it for me. It’s got a nice rocking outro and sometimes it sounds like the singer is about to burst into tears. Emo. Dead Uncles play more garagey/ pop-punk stuff which probably seperates them from the crowd a little bit.
That’s the problem with this record though. I mean, I like it and that, but I do feel that this particular sub-genre of punk rock is getting a bit over-crowded at the moment. Still, I’ll probably add each band to my LastFM playlist and on this showing I’m confident that they’ve both got more in their catalogue to make me sit up and take notice.
