We have a problem here.
The problem arises from a simple misunderstanding.
The misunderstanding centres around a word.
That word is “peruse”.
In the covering letter to Collectivezine, the reader is informed that this EP has been enclosed for his or her “perusal” but unfortunately a perusal of this only serves to highlight its shortcomings.
Let’s get one thing straight from the beginning; the music on here is pretty good, easily comparable to bands like Rage Against the Machine or Screaming Trees which the band claim as influences. If you just put this CD on and listened to it, you’d likely be engaged by it as I was, unfortunately, the EP was accompanied by a Press Pack which seemed to have little purpose other than to show what utter meatheads its creators are.
All I can assume is that this Press Pack is some sort of massive ironical joke which I have completely misunderstood but it, along with the packaging and ridiculous aping of AC/DC and Motley Crue just made me want to put it in the bin. Fortunately, I listened to the EP before I read the Press Pack.
The word, “peruse” means to examine with extreme care, not, as this band presumably thought, to cast a quick glance across. They’re not alone though, lots of people make this mistake, probably because of the lazy “u” sound in the second syllable of the word, so it’s completely understandable.
So, in conclusion, listen to the EP, burn the Press Pack.
