Southpaw Fakers come from Cheltenham and Bristol and play melodic and poppy punk rock with a 90s bent. Their Facebook page cites Lifetime as a big influence. This four track EP starts off with an instrumental which is either called “Introduction” or “P.W.B.” – the Bandcamp page has different titles to the files I got sent. They have a lot of energy and they blast through the four tracks at pace. Some of the lyrics are a bit lost on me though (“We’re not invincible when we’re together/But we’re fucking close to it”) as are some of the air-punching choruses. It’s not bad though and they probably have a lot of fun playing live. It’s something I might have been more into if I was a lot younger. This EP may appeal if you like bands like Shook Ones as they are somewhere in that direction.
