This is some quirky indie stuff from a guy who appears to be quite prolific – ten albums under his belt apparently. He has a band with him for this one including a keyboarder. I was going to say that the vocals remind me of that Pool Whales band that I reviewed last year and it turns out that he is also in that band. This is similarly eccentric although a little more bouncy and upbeat. In the main, these are offbeat love songs but also tell a story. It’s alright it but it treads a very thin line between quirky and annoying. The lyrics are certainly eccentric. This is an excerpt from “Anything For You” – “I could pull your leg. Yank your chain. Wind your crank. Or pick your brain. I’d choke your chicken. Scare your monkey. Pet your cat. Or call you honey.” I do quite like the odd song though. “Bello” is pretty nice. I think this guy will be something of an acquired taste for many people.
