For a while there Ô¦rabrot seemed doomed to fall into that trap of the Prolific Rock Act: barely giving folks the time to digest the last effort before another was unceremoniously vomited into their laps. While quality control has remained rigorous throughout their storied career, this has served as another double-edged sword. After all, when the bar remains consistently high it’s easy to get complacent about just how good a band actually is. The band’s sixth album deals neatly with such quandaries by tearing naked into your front room and daring every fucker within shrieking distance to put two fingers in their ‘monkeyhole’, their patented mix of murky sludge, clangorous noise-rock and blackened sentiments on fiercer form than ever before. It’s testament to its might that the track previously loaned out for a split with Stateside sluggers Rabbits is actually one of the lesser efforts here, while the likes of ‘Throwing Rocks At The Devil’, ‘Blood On The Poet’ and ‘The Horns Of The Devil Grow’ dose the rhythmic snaps and sewage-thick lunges with a histrionic sense of bombast that should be ridiculous but winds up being absolutely devastating.
