Franck Condon - Purity Hall - CD (2013)

Labels: Runningonair Music
Review by: Captain Fidanza

Anyone who has been paying any attention at all to the shit I’ve written for this website over the past few years should be aware of one thing “” I really like the records made by the folk over at Runningonair Music. Not only is the music on their albums always excellent, but they’re all mad scientists who use their hyper-advanced brains to create it out of theories and things.

Perhaps the best thing about the albums released by the artists on this label is the fact none of it is done with an ironic wink or subtle nudge which lets you know that they’re really only doing it “œfor a laugh” and it’s supposed to be all a massive joke. Quite the contrary in fact, these boys are doing this for real and the fact everything is weird and esoteric is the point and if you’re not down with that then fuck you.

Purity Hall is no exception. The artist here proudly claims in the liner notes that one of the pieces of music on his album was directly influenced by a course he took on “œnanostructured biomacromolecules,” which is something I imagine that chap from Coldplay couldn’t probably say.

Some parts of this sound like the wind at the end of Get Carter, but a lot warmer.
