Three new tracks from emo stalwarts Perfect Future here – each one entitled one by one as per the title of the EP. “Irrational” is typically vitriolic and with political lyrics dealing with animal cruelty and testing. All three tracks are lyrically fiercely political. “Malleable” is the shortest track here at just over one minute while the other two hover under and over the five minute mark. It’s a straightfoward and vitriolic track that blends screamed vocals with spoken words – shades of Sinaloa in this one. “Inevitable” is the most varied track here combining fragility, chaos and even an almost whispered gang vocal as it closes out. The pretty guitar and sung vocals at the start become way more frantic as the tracks builds. Perfect Future are still a band that I have more than a passing interest in. If you liked their “Old Wounds” full length you won’t be disappointed as the sound on here doesn’t stray too far from that blueprint.
