According to the email that accompanied this, Martin Bisi has been involved with some of the most important experimental, New York-based musicians for the last thirty years, with artists as diverse as John Zorn, Afrika Bambaataa and Swans counted amongst his collaborations. With this in mind, it is perhaps, unsurprising that this album sounds like the music from 2001 which soundtracks Dr. Bowman’s journey toward Jupiter and beyond the infinite.
Out of nothing, distant drums meld with spectral chanting and are later joined by numerous disinterested guitars, all coalescing to create a kind of demented choral evensong more concerned with heaven, hell, the moon and the Mermaid Queen than worshipping the almighty.
