Thirty Six Strategies - Strategy Two - 7

Labels: Boss Tuneage – Surprise Attack
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Another slab of vinyl that I took far too long to submit some words about. TSS contributed a fine CD last year on Boss Tuneage and this 3 song single picks up where that left off. Copper meets Leatherface. Full of driving melodic riffs and great vocals. The production is kind of weird, very chunky and loud, doesn’t really suit the music I reckon, needs to be a bit rawer. Best song is the shortest effort, “œCrisis, What Crisis” which absolutely blazes past. Super catchy and over before you know it. “œSwallowing Swords” ends things and is more than a tad cheesy. Reeks of filler song. No thanks mate. Though I do like the bits where it gets all slow and groovy they all shouted at once about “seeing you burn” or something because it was dead Rev Summer. The rest of it though, nah.

Solid 7″, without setting the world alight.
