Another Dutch punk rarity rescued and reissued by LVEUM, and a neat enough companion piece to the Squats 7″ reviewed elsewhere. To my mind the Vultures sound meaner and more lumpen than the Squats, the songs primitive and charged with a blank-eyed monotony that gets them from point A to point B effectively enough, though the band seem rankled every inch of the way by how pointless the journey is and how damn long it seems to be taking them. The guitar grinds along, the bass sounds like it could well be out of tune and the singer holds forth in surly manner on topics such as booze, not being able to find a job and, umm, Russian spies. It’s good, simple, honest punk rock fun made all the more charming by its manifold flaws “” definitely a worthy reissue, and particularly so since most of us’ll never clap eyes on an OG copy let alone have the spare cash to afford one.
