Reviewing a Victims album in this day and age is a funny old proposition. I mean, really, what is the point? Great imponderables aside, this one follows the strong suit laid down by the last one for Deathwish: a muscular, modern, tightly-controlled slice of professional crust where every rabble-rousing chorus, raspy yell and pick scrape has been implemented using laser-guided robot technology. On an objective level there is absolutely nothing to fault – it’s tight, airless and offers no room whatsoever for manoeuvre – but if you’re looking for chaos, danger or any sense of combustibility you may just find yourself feeling steamrollered but strangely unmoved by it all.
