Towards the end of April 2016, the second First Timers event was held in London, in which people are invited to form the band they’ve always wanted to, but for myriad reasons haven’t got round to yet, and play their first gig. Scrap Brain were formed for this occasion and as far as I know are the first band to emerge with demo recordings. Scrap Brain play a kind of almost Flipper style primitive and whacked-out hardcore with a real noisy/no wave dissonant tone. The lyrics are fantastically sarcastic and barbed, a particular favourite being the couplet “M’lady me, I’ll murder you”, which may provoke a smirk or wry smile, but is absolutely not a joke.
