Labels: Boss Tuneage
Review by: Oli Saunders
By this point I could pick a Boss Tuneage rerelease out of a lineup within seconds. A political statement/display of frustration for a band or album name? Check. Grainy artwork made up of a minimum of colours? Check. Some of the words on the front in capitals? Yep. On the inside, a story of the band and some black and white photos? Coming right up.
Corrupt Mind play a cross between the likes of Political Asylum (I know I namedrop them a lot!) and more modern pop punk (I can’t put my finger on who though). The drawn out singing on the first song is much like anything on ‘Window On The World’. And the latter… ‘Jackson’ is not a million miles away from a slowed down version of ‘Danny Is A Wimp’ by Screeching Weasel. You might have to try hard to see where I’m coming from with that though. There are some duds for sure – ‘Lesbo Pussy Hunt’ is one to skip – but more serious tracks like ‘What You Said’ make up for that. A best of Corrupt Mind playlist would be alright with me.
