These Terveet Kädet affiliates scratched out a trio of great 7″s between 1989 and 1995 before seeming to vanish, so it’s pleasantly weird to have them resurface for a full-length. This release finds them marginally more restrained and coherent than those old EPs, but the twisted root is still very much in evidence as they splay out five murderous, gunk-clogged songs. Läjä Ôijälä’s groans, howls and violent gnashings of teeth serve as the perfect foil for the band’s churning, gurning, noise-blasted space-rock that resides in the same altered zone as Circle, Liquorball and Brainbombs. Things flail and thrash, one moment inhabiting an endless, lock-grooved Stooges wig-out (‘The Feet Of Jesus’) and the next a mesmeric, doom-laden meltdown that’s almost like a lighter-hearted Head Of The Demon (‘The Darkest Trip’). Despite flirting with different sounds and styles the overarching weirdness helps keep it all hanging together, making for a decent dose of antagonistic scuzz in its own right and a nice companion piece to 2011’s ‘Pain Is Pain’ singles collection.
