Two tracks of primal, whirling, death-blasted black metal wherein the tremolo picking sands your face to the bone and occasional wraith-like melodies offer Ba’al’s scalding piss by way of salve. Sarcófago spring to mind due to pace and rabid delivery, but the musicianship buried deep beneath the festering scrape suggests a barebones Immortal, or maybe even a whiff of labelmates Possession. In lesser hands (claws?) a two-song blast like this might only satisfy some very primitive yearnings, but considering the thing’s been on repeat for half an hour without complaint or yawn it’s possible that Grave Spirit’s future might offer more promise than feral aggression alone.
