Artefact have jumped right in following their 2015 demo, with this debut album ‘Votive Offerings’ a solid slice of post-punk/80’s Goth, that would be perfect if you’re looking for a soundtrack to your melancholy wind downs. There’s ten tracks of emotive gloom and doom played out in an elegant and sophisticated manner that make the strong influence of bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division undeniable, but the band members previous outings in punk and pop bands such as Twisted, Joanna Gruesome, and Plagues mean they’ve created their own niche sound. They’ve put in the hard slog on the DIY punk scene, and warrant checking out on record and in person.
