Quick dose of grotty stuff here that roils madly around as it takes in grind, black and death metal. There’s a hint of the raggedier end of Southern Lordcore (Dead In The Dirt, say), and I’m unsurprised to learn that members’ previous endeavours include screamo (Dawn Treader!), hardcore (A Warm Gun!) and grindcore (Musket Hawk!) entities given Crawler’s rattly sound and direct, no-nonsense approach. Closing track ‘The Conclusion’ has a bit more going on, running to just over eight minutes and elegantly winding some mournful strings into the mix – a nice way to round the album out and offset the otherwise putrid vibes.
