Picked this up purely because there’s some connection or other to the excellent, sadly-defunct Eyeteeth. Beyond genetics there’s little to connect the two bands – Eyeteeth played superbly aggro power violence, Sulphuric Deity are spikes ‘n’ leather black / death / war metal – though they both share a similar sense of ravening chaos and piss-boiling hostility.

Things here start, appropriately enough, with the sound of air raid sirens: a chilling warning of the hellstrike that is to follow. Things seethe and gurgle in a tremendously satisfying manner, with feedback-leaking riffs surging forth like a bloodthirsty hoard crashing against fortress walls. As with recent releases by Coscradh and Concrete Winds, slinging this demo on isn’t so much a case of casually playing some rowdy tunes as committing to being violently attacked: a bruising, nerve-rattling experience that’s as physical as it is auditory.
