This is the kind of record I should be reviewing all the time on this website, rather than participating in the chain of events that involves a band attempting to “make it”, or whatever such nonsense. Woah, I just found I have two copies of the CD in this packaging. Weird shit. Anyway. Io is 4 kids from Pennsylvania playing some form of emo, or something. It’s hard to describe. Crazed vocals, flailing guitar, fired up rhythms and all manner of chaos. The 10 tracks on this CD flash by in a heartbeat, amidst spazzed out grooves and other messes. There’s lots going on, and it’s all played with an immense amount of energy. The booklet that comes with the CD contains lines like “I want people to learn and figure things out for themselves so they have that passion”. HELL YES. There’s nothing quite like discovering what motivates you and drives you to achieve more than merely getting out of bed in the morning, even if that’s sometimes the hardest thing you’ll do all day.

I could draw all kinds of various comparisons and ramble on a bit more but don’t feel like doing so. Io connects with me. I rely so much on bands that do this, and I hope you do too, and that’s why you are reading this review. If not, maybe it’s time to have a ponder.
