This album is anything but sedentary dude. This vinyl version coming out on both sides of the pond gives me a good excuse to wax lyrical about one of the most underrated bands around, with them seeming to be more of a band’s band judging by the sweet guest spots liberally sprinkled throughout. AH have never sat still for a moment (bar some micro-hiatuses while members live in different states), and over the course of numerous albums and EPs they have twisted and turned like a pissed-off rattlesnake, with equally deadly results. I’ve long held these guys in high admiration, but this is the first time where those feelings have congealed into genuine love. It’s not tech-widdle nonsense with no feeling; it’s basically punk fucking rock with pretty bent time signatures, tuning and attitude. There’s that inexorable all-important flow a la Keelhaul, but coming more from a noise rock Jesus Lizard meets Unsane starting point. Don’t discount them for their sense of humour and exemplary punmanship either (“Fetal Attraction”, “Tomb Cruise”). Too dumb to quit perhaps, but thank Satan they haven’t.
