An obtuse tangle of avant metal from Crucial Blast. This lot could almost be considered a blackened counterpart to awkward death maulers (and Crucial Blast signees) Ehnahre or kinsfolk of the excellent Castavet, drawing from similarly disparate spheres of influence and spiking their carefully-orchestrated brutality with warped slices of jazz and prog rock. Mathematically correct riffs roil and lurch; voices rasp and howl and the occasional trumpet makes its parping presence felt. It’s odd but somehow sublime; a dark, savage, challenging treat for metal fans who are unafraid of using set squares, calculators and runic decoder rings in order to get the most from their listening materials.
