I’m still a sucker for a bit of post-rock now and again. Magma Waves don’t do anything groundbreaking with the genre, but they successfuly craft atmospheric and varied music. They are on the heavier side of Explosions In The Sky, pausing now and again to create contrast. They throw in the odd audio sample too; that’s okay. ‘Blind The Sun’ is a heavy song, but still full of melody. After a while there is realisation that it’s the same tricks being used over and over, so perhaps an hour sitting is a little too much.
