I have listened to a fair bit of German punk/emo over the years, enjoying the likes of Pete the Pirate Squid, Shokei, Ten Volt Shock, Null Punkt Kelvin and, of course, Yage. Port Rois fit into this classification in a roundabout way, just a little less emo and a little more post-punk. They groove in a short and sweet fashion, with most tracks around the three minute mark. The vocals are in English but you have to listen carefully to decipher – they’ve got the levels just right. The album flies by and is highly enjoyable.
