Labels: Total Punk
Review by: Alex Deller
Genealogically:
Punk made by and for people who grew up in terrible towns that offered no prospects and no culture.
And/or:
Punk made by and for people who had to punch in at shop or a factory rather than spend time doing a string of unpaid internships that would allow them to waltz into sassy media jobs.
And/or:
Punk made by and for people who live in a state of perpetual ennui, and feel weighed down by a deep sense of dread as to what the future might hold.
Musically:
If Billy Childish grew up listening to Wire and Swell Maps rather than the Beatles.
Topically:
How stupid and empty modern life is; how stupid and empty modern people are.
To conclude:
The songs are great; the sentiment’s great; it’s all deeply satisfying.
