Liked the first two Devil Master EPs well enough and enjoyed the debut LP even more, but this new one sees the band taking their magickal mysteries to a whole new plane. Rather than more adeptly mixing their core elements together it feels like they’ve teased them apart and amplified them – a bold choice, but one that sees everything ickily coalescing into something tantalisingly fresh. Sure, you can still allude to Midnight, Mobs and Samhain, and the second track makes me want to belt out the chorus to ‘Hollow’ by Integrity rather than whatever this guy is gurgling, but the overall effect is pure incense-trailing sorcery: a rollicking, rampant feast of nape-bothering melodies, unhly invocations and greedy, primal surge.
