Review by: Ian Cavell

Southpaw have been making a bit of a name for themselves lately – and causing the odd argument:

“Southpaw – ex-Snuff right?”
“No, that’s Southport”.
“Yeah, Southpaw – thats what I said.”

And so on.

Musically, the first thing that struck me about Southpaw is that they sound remarkably like a Snuffy Smile band at times, which is strange as they’ve from Norfolk and not the land of the rising sun. But if you like emotional punk with a nicely rounded pop edge, you’d be wise to track down this. And if you needed one reason it would be to hear the second track, ‘Sober’, with its soaring chorus and powerful guitar action. Priceless.
