Oh yeah, I like this. Heavy, malignant, world-hating hardcore that’s working harm to twist the form into something a bit different. The spirit of Crossed Out might lurk within Malform’s music like an evil ghost in an old clay pot, but there’s much going on beyond slavish power violence mimicry. The sound has a chasmic depth to it that recalls death metal, while the track ‘Dwell’ lets out the leash on the FX-saturated confusion to the point where I’m reminded of Gas Chamber. Electronic noise crackles at the edges and infects the songs, meaning comparisons to Full Of Hell and The Endless Blockade also feel apt – no bad thing, and another nice touch to round out what is a seriously strong release.
