Last time I reviewed Coscradh I griped about things seeming sort of formless. Don’t know whether that was a fair assertion or me just being a wimp, because I could level the same claim against ‘Carving The Causeway To The Otherworld’ but here I’m absolutely bowled over by the furious, shapeless mayhem. Almost everything here is TERROR and WAR: a blistering assault on the senses that’s akin to being torn limb from limb by a baying horde of bloodthirsty warriors. Black and death metal collide and explode outward in fragments of twisted shrapnel, while whinnying, seemingly never-ending solos and gurgled invocations hang heavy in the air like ancient curses. As with releases by Black Curse and Concrete Winds, Coscradh have crafted one of those records that feels wonderfully, terrifyingly physical: the violence and sense of threat is palpable to the point where you can practically taste the adrenalin stink of it in the back of your throat.
