What is it with records on Witching Hour spinning at 33rpm? I don’t get it. Do you?
Andy did a review on Volume 11’s 12″ so my job is done. Haha! Ok, ok. I’ll cut it out. Three tracks delivering the usual almighty raa goodness and earth shattering rock n’ roll insanity that I tend to lust for. The last track ‘Wanderings’ is a mental distortion that seems to go on forever but suddenly breaks down in the aforementioned rhythm thus making it the champion of the three songs. Damn! I want more.
Now Gasp, on the other hand… What the hell?! I’m shocked. I’m disappointed. Annoyed. Terribly upset. The first and third tracks are terrible ambient that even the hippies would go to war over. Totally redundant. The track sandwiched in between is more or less like a Mohinder rip- off. I like it though. But not entirely satisfying.
Only get this 7″ if you are 1. a huge fan of Witching Hour 2. into ex-Honeywell. 3. into awful ambient.
