Cult grinders Excruciating Terror (a less celebrated act compared to 16, Despise You and Grief from the Pessimiser roster) reform in a manner of speaking (Jerry Flores is back in action at least) as Bloody Phoenix, and it’s more of the same really. Track after track (twenty six of them!) of bludgeoning inner city L.A. grind hardcore in the aforementioned Despise You fashion, i.e. downtuned, speedy and splattered, with a seriously nasty vibe. It’s utterly relentless, which can have a lessening effect when there’s little or no let-up in proceedings, but there’s undeniable power at play here.
