Lucertulas - Tragol De Rova - CD (2008)

Labels: RobotRadio Records
Review by: Gareth L

Oh wow the first two tracks on this CD are really great, sounding like Arab On Radar covers of Speedking songs and the rest of the album follows this kind of dischordant messy post-punk trail with several more songs of lovely noise, even slipping in a headbangingly heavy riff in ‘Miss Ratched’ that oddly doesn’t seem that out of place. There are some melodic and quiet bits here (especially in ‘Tintinnio’) but luckily they are few and far beteween and thankfully Lucertulas don’t spend long with that accessible nonsense. There is however an ill-advised seven minute foray into ambient noise towards the end of the album which is basically pointless on a rock record. Luckily they do set things right on the last song and end the 26 minutes the right way. It is sometimes difficult for this kind of band to translate a live show to a record but if ‘Trago De Rova’ is anything to go by this band would be a riot. Three One G nerds take note.
