Glasses - s/t - LP (2009)

Labels: Vendetta
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Germany seems to shit out bands like this on a regular basis, and I’m OK with that. When you listen to the likes of Perth Express and Trainwreck, you get hardcore, punk and metal neatly melded together, with dissonant arrangements packing plenty of pace, living in the middle ground between His Hero Is Gone and Converge. Glasses continue this fine tradition, which is not surprising since they feature members of the aforementioned bands, but unfortunately this seven-tracker doesn’t quite last the entire course for me. They sound like total pros, but it’s all too smoothly efficient and lacking that bit of soul. I’m picking holes in something that on paper totally works, but my attention really was wandering by the time the last couple of songs rolled around. A perfectly fine way to spend 20 minutes though.
