Te' - Therefore, the Illusion of Density Breach, the Tottering World of Forget Tomorrow - LP (2012)

Once I created a first.

Alongside the venerable A.M. I used to play rebounds up against the wall of the sports hall at high school with a Mitre “œminiball” which I bought from Norwich market. One day, in a particularly tense sequence of play, someone (I forget who) managed to kick the ball onto the roof, despite the fact the sports hall is about twenty metres high.

Fearing this indiscretion might cause the immediate cessation of our much-loved lunchtime sports activity, I immediately took myself along to the staff room and enquired of the universally feared Mr. Copeland whether or not I could go up onto the roof and retrieve the ball. To my great surprise and eternal gratitude, the Copeland acquiesced and shortly thereafter I found myself up on the roof with Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Mr. Copeland and about 3498756279364529873495 tennis balls.

“œYou’ve created a first,” was the line Copeland used as he and I stood in silence for a moment surveying the expanse of the surrounding area

This here CD created a first too.

When I put it into the side of my computer, all the usual whirring noises occurred but when the iTunes box appeared in the middle of the screen, all the writing was in Japanese, which is unassailably brilliant but means I have no idea what any of the songs are called.

The music on the CD is fucking excellent and sounds a bit like Glenn Branca would have done if he had been produced by the musicians from Guitar Wolf. Unrelenting, driving guitars, thunderous drums, and stratospheric keyboards all made infinitely more demented by the utter lack of vocals.

I thought it particularly telling that a member of this band subscribed to the Myspace website on Christmas Eve 2005, that’s how dedicated they are.

This review dedicated to G.M.S., Oakes, Graz and all the forgotten heros of the T.H.S. lunchtime rebounds society “” all the very best, wherever you are.
