S U R V I V E - RR7349 - CD (2016)

Labels: Relapse
Review by: Ewan

A fine album of retro synth soundtrack action. Fairly restrained like John Carpenter’s recent Lost Themes albums rather than the bombastic arps of Survive’s ‘synth wave’ contemporaries such as Perturbator or Carpenter Brut. They’ve totally got that 80s sci film sound spot on. And they know how to write a hummable theme. Someone should probably get them to soundtrack something. The artwork is great in a new age/Omni magazine way and I’ll definitely be picking up the vinyl for it. That said, while I have had it on regular repeat and will carry on playing it, it doesn’t quite have that little extra something to make it more than just a well done genre album.
