Four tracks of dense, difficult, amorphous death metal that’s definitely coming from an ‘avant’ perspective. Things begin slouchily, ambling uncertainly forward with a mulchy, untidy sound. As things progress they get steadily weirder; the hammerblow riffing and mucky gurgles joined by a variety of scrapes, jags and atonal lurches that are made all the more threatening thanks to the low-res production job. You can definitely detect traces of Portal, Ulcerate and Incantation, but the noise, dissonance and unpredictability makes Ehnahre the closest comparison I can think of. It’s seriously impressive stuff, and all the more so when you consider the band are a duo and that this is ‘only’ a demo.
