Strange Ranger - Daymoon - LP (2018)

Labels: Tiny Engines
Review by: MH

This one came out ages ago but has gradually meandered its way to my ears following a few early sporadic and brief listens – so much so that I’m coming back to it regularly at the moment. It’s fitting then that this is pretty meandering music in itself. It’s kind of slow indie rock with vocals that are at times hushed and pretty worn out. Whereas some of the earlier tracks like “Hydration Is Key” stood out for me on those initial listens I’m finding that the last few songs is where the record really peaks. “Seesaw” into “Why Didn’t You” into the weary and downtrodden “Most Perfect Gold of the Century” is a brilliant trio leading into the closing track.
