Speaking as someone who’s a fan of both grind and sci-fi this one seemed like a no-brainer, combining as it does both highly-regarded artforms. Truth be told I probably got my hopes up unreasonably high, fancying it might be an oddball mix of Discordance Axis, Voivod and Harlan Ellison. Sadly – but perhaps inevitably – it doesn’t match these expectations, but the results are still decent enough if you fancy some thick, gurgly, djent-adjacent grind that also offers occasional bursts of weird, wobbly guitar work. It’s frantic, well-played and undeniably savage, but could perhaps benefit from a wilder and less-measured approach if they want to leave our orbit and make their mark on strange new alien landscapes in the future.
