Saw SIAL live at New River Studios and they were exactly what I needed: a dynamite blast of raw, chaotic noise that made your brain veins throb with its desperate, crackling urgency. This, the band’s third release for LVEUM, somehow manages to capture that same ferocious energy and slap it down onto vinyl, the riffs sawing incessantly away and the echo-smashed vocals howling bloody vengeance. Despite the tearing, no-nonsense approach and undeniable savagery of it all there’re numerous little songwriting sidesteps that force you to pay attention beyond the immediate assault – elements that tip this from ‘good’ to ‘great’ and make for a neat stylistic fit alongside labelmates Exotica, The Comes and Una Bèstia Incontrolable.
