For vegan grindcore, this sure contains a lot of gristle, slurry and ground up bone. Bloodmouth feature members of Ploughshare and Mental Cavity, but ‘Unmanned’ sees them scratching a far more primitivist itch: lumpy, crunchy, no-nonsense grindcore that busies itself down in the muck with the late 80s output of labels like Necrosis and Earache. The clumpy riffs and belligerent, clogged-up vocals are all satisfyingly horrid, and while some of the titles might seem daft (‘Tomb Of The Stoat’? ‘Pangolin Death Squad’?) the band’s anti-meat industry invective means there’s nevertheless a deadly serious message to accompany the unflinching brutality.
