Review by: Luke Younger

El Guapo’s previous LP ‘Super/System’ was quite possibly one of the most underrated records of last year, which angered me greatly as I thought their slightly off kilter, avant experimentation pop was quite top notch. This new one, ‘Fake French’, is possibly even better. Slightly more straight to the point, it is crammed full of some absolutely brilliant semi electronic quirky pop songs. it makes me want to dance, it makes me want to sing, it makes me want to buy copies for disbelieving friends (but I wont because I can’t afford to, and plus they are all cunts anyway). If El Guapo didn’t look like a bunch of scruffy losers, and didn’t release records on Dischord then I’m sure they would be all over the style/fashion mags in seconds. The harsh reality of it all!
