Genuinely weird stuff that came out of Valladolid, Spain in the early 80s. The eerie droog aesthetic (eye makeup, facepaint, fishnet arm stockings…) permeates the music, which is punk-based and paced but lingers at the genre’s fringes thanks to the dark, theatrical vibes, the surreal guitar tone (fuzzed, bleary, knife-edge thin) and the monochromatic, industrial-sounding percussion that makes me think of Big Black or Killing Joke. Despite its odd nature it’s also catchy and eminently boppable, the band’s outsider nature tempered by deft songwriting skills that help to make things even more compelling.
