Lords (US) - Swords - CD (2006)

Labels: Jade Tree Records

This lot are from Louisville, Kentucky, and so shouldn’t be confused with our own similarly excellent homegrown variety of Lords. Now that that’s out the way, Lords (of Louisville) get cracking on thoroughly kicking your ass with some White Stripes playing Botch (there’s your rubbish soundbite) action that zooms by with a rocket in its pocket. First time round, it feels like a 20-minute flurry of fire and brimstone, with the mere momentary pauses between tracks making it all congeal nicely into one overwhelming mass of exhilirating noise, but it rocks so hard that you’ll be spinning it again in next to no time. Lords have a real knack for coming up with loads of cool riffs, jamming them all up next to each other, and then making them flow when really they shouldn’t. Exciting, intelligent and rocking.
