I think it’s awesome that the Shivering has a release on Council. Because I’ve always thought they had a bit of a Current thing going on with their music. And now they get to put a 7″ on a label I really respect a lot, and I am sure a lot of other people do to.

This is a fantastic 7″, it picks up really where the bands split with Funeral Diner left off, though perhaps the tracks have a little more ‘pace’ about them. It’s rocking hardcore that very much sits in the vein of bands like Rites of Spring and Current, but adds a more melodic, punky direction to things. One of the reasons the Shiv really stand out is their fantastic vocals, which are responsible for those two comparisons I made back there. Desperate and kind of raspy, just full of feeling. Emo! There are 3 songs on here, and the last one (“Through”) fills a whole side, and I think it’s actually my favourite on here. There are more points where the vocals are ‘cleaner’, maybe that’s what does it. Just makes for some neat variation.

Well, I totally recommend this. Top notch standard silver & black packaging from the big C.
