Should really review one of the 300 releases Iron Lung released this year rather than gab about an LP from 2025, but I missed this on the first go-around so maybe you did too. To put it in the simplest possible terms, ‘Corrosión’ is an ABSOLUTE RIPPER. The band belt through 12 songs of raw, urgent hardcore that’s timeless in sound and delivery but thoroughly up-to-the-minute in terms of the things that make them furious. Sound-wise I’m minded of The Comes with maybe a soupçon of UK82, which is to say raging, in-your-face punk that never, ever pulls any punches. The unrelenting fury and unbridled aliveness would be enough to mark this one out, but the songs are also great: rather than whip past in an adrenalised blur there’s always something – a catchy riff, bassline or ragged vocal hook – to lodge in your head and demarcate one track from the other. It’s a great release, and I have high hopes for when their tour tears through the UK in a couple of days.
