Tower Of Rome - Gun Kata - Split - CD (2006)

These bands are so tech, even their songtitles are complicated. I can get thoroughly behind a band who think “We Have Been Hired To Knock Your Teeth Crooked, That is Unless They Are Already Crooked Which In That Case We Will Knock Them Straight” is the sort of songtitle that is easy for fans to yell out between songs. Essentially it’s all a bit unmemorable, but it is agreeably crazy even for this day and age and is full of good bits, like a spring roll. Gun Kata have less comedy value, producing more of a serious, negative vibe with their denser, darker sound. Their grinding is more focussed and deadlier as a result. I’d say they were the winners here, as their material is a little more substantial, but the whole thing’s over in 12 minutes anyway. Together with the lovely artwork you could have had a real nice 7″. Not bad at all though.
