Venomous Concept is a supergroup worthy of the name. You simply cannot fuck with a pedigree as good as Kevin Sharp of the recently reformed Brutal Truth on vocals, King Buzzo on guitar and the rhythm section from Napalm Death. The songs may simply be cast offs from attempts at making the Melvins’ faster numbers, but slap on that distinctively throaty, phlegmy howl and power it along with one of the most experienced rhythm sections in extreme music and you’ve got totally righteous entertainment. 324 are actually better though. Somewhat of a mysterious outfit (perhaps because I’m too ignorant to learn Japanese in order to read their website), I had no idea they were still going until this and a new album came out after what must be a few years of inactivity. They’re a grind band at heart, powered by one of the most direct, hard-hitting drummers I’ve ever heard, but they chuck in some awesome rocky sections in between the insane speedy bits, and everything just sounds monumentally downtuned, heavy and brutal which is something you don’t always get with grind. Awesome.
